Quality of Life
Skagit County, like all of western Washington, is under great pressure to grow. Managing this growth effectively will be crucial in assuring that future generations live in a community that is safe, healthy, affordable, and recognizably our beloved Skagit Valley.
Ron Wesen supports following the Growth Management Act to protect local farms and natural resource lands. Skagitonians have been good stewards of our resources for decades – the healthiest salmon populations are in our rivers and the best soils in America are under our farms and forests. Giving up these resources to new sprawling development makes no sense for our economy or our environment.
Ron Wesen participates in preparing our students for a future in Skagit County. Ron has served for over a decade on the Burlington School District Facility Study Committee and the Vocational Advisory Committee of the Burlington-Edison High School. Ron believes our community’s children are its future and his commitment to education reflects that belief.
Ron Wesen will assure our citizens that there is a place for them here, from infancy through their elder years. With community growth, costs increase to provide more services and infrastructure, many times resulting in higher taxes. Ron Wesen will encourage all the communities in Skagit to work together to provide adequate and affordable housing for everyone, jobs for those that want to work here, and a safe and healthy environment that they can enjoy through all the seasons of their lives.
