Issues

This past winter I was approached by some thoughtful neighbors urging me to seek the office of Skagit County Commissioner. After family discussions and much thought, I decided to accept the challenge of serving as an elected community leader.

I have been active in county, state and national issues for some time on behalf of Skagit County and our agricultural community. I have worked hard to develop a quiet, considered, and patient leadership style. I am known as someone who listens to all sides and acts fairly. I’ve been at the table for tough negotiations as well as community celebrations.

My platform is simple. I will:

    • Concentrate on sensible spending of public dollars
    • Make decisions that sustain our high quality of Skagit life
    • Strengthen our local natural resource industries

I developed this platform by listening to our neighbors. Many of us come from families that have farmed or logged or fished for generations. Many of us have come here recently, looking for a better quality of life away from the frantic pace of big cities and their suburbs. In listening, I learned that all of us want to protect the Skagit Valley and its many riches – the people, the places and the natural resources.

Join me. Help me assure that the Skagit way of life is still here for our children and grandchildren and all future generations to enjoy.
